In order to swap in a`93 Cummins Engine, I’d have to take some time and prep the `92 Dually Crew. Might as well take advantage of the opportunity now, while everything is out of the way, to improve and update some things.
So, I cleaned up as much dirt, oil and otherwise from the firewall and frame.
A pressure washer operation was used to clean the frame and spray off the firewall – took about 30 min just on the frame to remove the chunky, dirty grease that I had’t already scraped off using a putty knife.
Brought the truck back into the shop, sanded things down, then used Rust-Oleum Professional paint in a rattle can. This is really good stuff, available for about $5 in the tall spray can. Sticks to anything and lasts long. You got a problem with rattle can paint?

Although not shown in the photos, I also rattle – can sprayed the brake booster with black. Big, easy part to spray. Looks great now!
